Since King Hrothgar has lost his battle over 12 seasons, I believe that he should feel confident in someone else taking charge and having the abilities to fight off Grendel. No matter how small or big that they seem, I someone else should take charge. It would be better than to keep losing, and continuing to lose men. Also Beowulf has had a swimming match with Brecca, but while this was happening he fought a beast under water and swam away safely “A monster seized me/Left it floating lifeless in the sea” said Beowulf (285-290). He is trying to convince King Hrothgar that he is worthy and will do everything in his power to fight off this beast. And if he loses that he does not want them to morn over him. “What has it been before/ No, I expect no Danes.” (176-184)
Another reason King Hrothgar should be confident in Beowulf’s abilities is he is not afraid of Grendel. And the same night they had the feast is that same night all his men were ready to fight. “No one strange to this land has ever been granted what I’ve given you/and your ship will sail home with its treasure-holds full.” (385-390) In other words I think that King Hrothgar should feel very confident in letting Beowulf take the fight with Grendel.
nice comic for the most part, looks like you really knew what the plot was all about.
